Latince s\u00f6zl\u00fck anlam\u0131n\u0131 &#8220;doyum&#8221; diye verebilirsiniz, ama bu t\u00fcr bir terc\u00fcmeyle hi\u00e7bir \u015fey anlamam\u0131\u015f olursunuz. &#8220;Memnuniyet&#8221; kelimesi \u00f6nersek bu kez suratlardaki o aptalca g\u00fcl\u00fcc\u00fckle bezenmi\u015f genel budalal\u0131\u011f\u0131 hissetme tehlikesi belirecektir. \u00c7\u00fcnk\u00fc \u00f6neri Spinoza&#8217;n\u0131n ilk eserlerinden birinde beliriyordu ve kelimenin manas\u0131n\u0131 zorlamak gerekti\u011fini a\u00e7\u0131k ediyordu: &#8220;sonu\u00e7ta ger\u00e7ekten iyi, insanlara iletilebilir, ve ruhun, geriye kalan her \u015feye bo\u015fvererek sadece onunla etkilenebilece\u011fi bir \u015feyin bulunup bulunmad\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131 ara\u015ft\u0131rmaya karar verdim; dahas\u0131, ke\u015ffedilmesi ve edinilmesi bana ebediyete kadar en y\u00fcksek ve s\u00fcrekli bir sevin\u00e7 verecek bir \u015feyin olup olmad\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131 sordum kendime&#8230;&#8221; (Spinoza, Kavrama G\u00fcc\u00fcn\u00fcn Tamirat\u0131 \u00dczerine Deneme) Ama i\u015fte burada &#8220;edinilme&#8221; diye terc\u00fcme etmek zorunda kald\u0131\u011f\u0131m s\u00f6zc\u00fck tam da bu &#8220;acquiescentia&#8221; edinme, doyma, memnuniyet. Spinoza fark\u0131ndad\u0131r ki insanlar da b\u00fct\u00fcn varl\u0131klar gibi varl\u0131klar\u0131nda direnmeye \u00e7abalarlar ellerinden geldi\u011fince ve ilk bak\u0131\u015fta &#8220;\u00e7uvallamalar\u0131&#8221; mukadder gibidir. Ama bilinmesi gerekir ki, bir \u00e7aba sarfetmiyor olsayd\u0131k &#8220;doyamazd\u0131k&#8221; ve hi\u00e7bir \u015feyi edinemezdik. Ba\u015fka bir deyi\u015fle Acquiescentia bir \u00e7abaya kar\u015f\u0131l\u0131kt\u0131r, kendili\u011finden gelen bir durum de\u011fildir. Ama bu ayn\u0131 zamanda &#8220;yat\u0131\u015fmad\u0131r&#8221; da&#8230; \u00c7\u00fcnk\u00fc her \u00e7aba kendi maksimum s\u00fcreklili\u011fini garantileyecek bir d\u00fczende ve d\u00fcnyada ya\u015famay\u0131 istemek y\u00f6n\u00fcndedir (genellikle b\u00f6yle olmaz, ama hep bunu isteriz). Ger\u00e7ekten de mutluluk yaln\u0131zca ola\u011fan d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcncenin de\u011fil, bir\u00e7ok felsefenin de kabul etti\u011fi gibi \u00e7evresinden dolanamayaca\u011f\u0131n\u0131z, ya da dola\u015f\u0131rken &#8220;en y\u00fcksek mutluluk&#8221; (Tanr\u0131 vesaireyle birlikte) gibi bir terkiple katlan\u0131labilir hale getirmek zorunda oldu\u011funuz bir haldir. Oysa Spinoza \u00e7ok kolay g\u00f6steriyor ki \u00f6yle de\u011fildir &#8211;\u00e7ok basit bir nedenle: s\u00fcrebilmesi i\u00e7in \u00f6nce mutlulu\u011fun olmas\u0131 gerekir. O halde Spinoza&#8217;n\u0131n ahlak felsefesi basit ve yal\u0131n bir &#8220;hazc\u0131l\u0131k&#8221; (hedonizm) olarak d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcn\u00fclmemeli. Ba\u015fka bir deyi\u015fle doyumlar\u0131m\u0131z\u0131n pe\u015finde ko\u015fu\u015fturup durduk\u00e7a, &#8220;hayata ya-p\u0131\u015ft\u0131k\u00e7a&#8221; mutlu filan olmuyoruz, olsa olsa mutlulu\u011fun yerine koydu\u011fumuz birtak\u0131m hazlar\u0131n gergin ve belirsiz d\u00fcnyas\u0131nda ya\u015fay\u0131p gidiyoruz. Ama Spinoza&#8217;n\u0131n ahlak anlay\u0131\u015f\u0131 di\u011fer kutupta da de\u011fildir &#8211;yani tam anlam\u0131yla rasyonel, hazlar ve arzular\u0131n doyurulmas\u0131 y\u00f6n\u00fcnde mutlak bir iradeye dayanan bir ahlak da sunmaz bize. Spinoza tutkular \u00fcst\u00fcnde mutlak bir hakimiyetin (irade diyorlar buna) asla kurulamayaca\u011f\u0131n\u0131n iyice fark\u0131ndayd\u0131. Peki o zaman rasyonalizmle tutkular aras\u0131nda gidip gelen bir belirsizli\u011fi mi veri almal\u0131y\u0131z?
